About this course:
The Spanish Wine Scholar™ program is the most advanced and comprehensive certification course on the wines of Spain. It presents each Spanish wine region as an integrated whole by explaining the impact of history, the significance of geological events, the importance of topographical markers and the influence of climatic factors on the wine in the glass. No topic is discussed in isolation in order to give students a working knowledge of the material at hand.
The syllabus takes a regional approach and discusses all Spanish wine appellations and the factors that shape their identities. It provides committed students of wine with an unparalleled set of study tools that are designed to maximize learning and boost knowledge retention.
The program was created by Spanish wine specialist Rick Fisher, Spanish Wine Scholar™ Education Director.
Wines from Spain (ICEX - Spain's Trade & Investment Government Agency) has endorsed the program in recognition of its exceptional level of depth, accuracy, detail, and academic rigor.
The objective of the Spanish Wine Scholar course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the wines of Spain, including their history, geography, winemaking techniques, grape varietals, and regional diversity.
Through the course, students will learn to identify and evaluate the key factors that contribute to the quality and character of Spanish wines, and gain an appreciation for the unique cultural and social contexts in which these wines are produced and consumed.
By the end of the course, students will be able to confidently navigate the diverse and dynamic world of Spanish wines, and communicate their knowledge and appreciation to others in a professional setting.
